These alloys have copper content which add high performance & excellent strength over highest temperatures. Some alloys in our range are not wieldable by arc welding processes due to susceptibility to stress corrosion cracking. Copper is used as the primary alloying element in 2000 series aluminium alloys.
Some of these Aluminium 2000 Series alloys are considered non-weld able by the arc welding processes because of their susceptibility to hot cracking and stress corrosion cracking; however, others are arc welded very successfully with the correct welding procedures. These base materials are often welded with high strength 2xxx series filler alloys designed to match their performance, but can sometimes be welded with the 4xxx series fillers containing silicon or silicon and copper, dependent on the application and service requirements. For optimum performance, solutions heat treatment is required.
